I might be gone one day

Thalita hums as she brushes through the albino's messy, long hair. Gael always looked like an absolute wreck due to his mother's negligence, so Thalita tries to help him out a bit. She has to sneak out to the ancient ruins, which became their hangout spot, because Thalita's mom would chew her out if she found out about him. Gael fiddles with his tattered shirt, something was a bit..off.
"Chiyo...she might send me away", Thalita's hand pauses when she hears Gael's voice.
A slight frown appears on her face, but she just shakes her head, "I'm sure it's because she wants the best for you.."
Gael's pale hands clench, and a scowl appears on his face.
"She says I'm a curse. She hates me...and I don't want to leave you", the last part was mumbled, but Thalita was still able to make out what he said.
"She..She just cares about you in her own special way...But we can be pen pals! Even if you're gone, we can still keep in touch! We have a mail box in the city, after all", Thalita finishes up brushing Gael's white hair and puts it into a ponytail.
He seems to slightly relax, but his jaw is still slightly clenched at the thought of his mother.
"You're right, I guess...It won't be the complete end of the world"
Thalita turns Gael around and gives him a cheeky smile, "You still have to visit, promise? You also gotta tell me what your new home is like" He laughs, "Ok, ok I promise! I swear!"
Many years later, Thalita stands at the plaza. Alone. She stares at the place where she and Gael would once sit, tears prickling her eyes. He broke his promise. He never visited, nor did he write to her.
